Green Party announces $327 million home Insulation Policy
With the election approaching the Green Party has announced a plan to invest $327 million into a home insulation scheme.
Yesterday the Green Party co-leader, Metiria Turei, announced the party's plan to invest $327 million into further home insulation over three years which includes a dedicated $60 million to support higher insulation levels in Christchurch residential re-building over two years.
The Green's proposed extension to the Warm Up New Zealand scheme would see an additional 200,000 homes insulated to standard. They estimate that there are still 600,000 New Zealand homes around New Zealand that could benefit from proper insulation and clean heating.
The funding that the Green's intend to have earmarked for Christchurch is proposed to see 10,000 Christchurch homes benefit during their re-building.
"Our Warm Up Christchurch policy will give the people of Christchurch a warmer home, instead of the National Government's cold shoulder," Green Party Co-leader, Metiria Turei
