The thermal envelope requirements of New Zealand homes remain significantly lower than international standards and there is ongoing discussion on the need to raise R-values.
Increasingly government agencies and housing companies are pursuing Homestar 6 and greater to create new homes with thermal ratings above the minimum building code and MBIE is currently consulting on the degree to which minimum R Values in the building code are raised.

These new products give architects and designers more options to achieve greater Homestar ratings. Mammoth skillion, wall and underfloor sections are also friction fitted and will hold in place without strapping or fixings.
