MAMMOTH'S TAKEBACK RECYCLING PROGRAM

We recycle insulation and packaging for a sustainable future

Mammoth Insulation - recycling for a circular economy

“For many years we have had a take-back programme where anyone can bring back Mammoth offcuts & packaging to our factory for recycling. While this is great, it is prohibitive to many builders, installers, and clients who work outside of Auckland where our factory is located.

We know that to capture as much of our product as we can, we need to provide easy solutions for clients using Mammoth to do the right thing and recycle it.

For this reason, we have opened up take-back locations in Hamilton, Tauranga, and Wellington, with more to follow. For large volumes we will also collect from clients free of charge. We also have our own install network which is a huge advantage as they send back mountains of product weekly for recycling.” Justin Grimshaw, National Sales Manager, Mammoth Insulation.

Mammoth’s TakeBack Scheme: Leading the Way in Sustainable Solutions

Mammoth Insulation is redefining industry standards with its innovative TakeBack scheme, designed to dramatically reduce waste and promote a circular economy. Our commitment to sustainability is at the core of everything we do, from manufacturing to end-of-life product management.

By offering a nationwide TakeBack program, we ensure that our insulation products and packaging, which are 100% recyclable, continue to contribute to environmental stewardship long after their initial use.

Closing the Loop: A Zero-Waste Commitment

Mammoth’s 100% polyester insulation products are crafted with sustainability in mind, utilising a zero-waste manufacturing process that transforms recycled PET plastic bottles into high-performance polyester insulation. Mammoth's insulation uses up to 15,600 recycled 500ml PET plastic bottles per 100sqm.

Our TakeBack scheme is a crucial component of this commitment, enabling us to recover uncontaminated offcuts and used products, including packaging, from the market, which are then reprocessed through our purpose-built reclaim line. This process not only reduces landfill waste but also reintegrates valuable resources back into our production cycle, making Mammoth a leader in sustainable insulation.

The TakeBack Process: A Comprehensive Approach to Recycling
  1. Initial Contact: Customers initiate the process by providing details and photos of the materials to be recycled.
  2. Approval: Mammoth confirms if the customer’s product can be recycled, and if so, schedules the return.
  3. Inspection: Products & packaging must be clean and bagged in clear bags to ensure safe and efficient recycling.
  4. Record Keeping: We meticulously document the weight and type of products received for recycling.
  5. Reclaim: Returned materials are processed, and reclaimed quantities are recorded.
  6. Product Ready for Reuse: Recycled materials are added to our raw material stock, ready to be transformed into new, eco-friendly products.

By offering these services across New Zealand, Mammoth is not just setting the standard for sustainable insulation practices but is actively driving the industry towards a zero-waste future. Our commitment to reducing carbon emissions, minimising waste, and providing convenient recycling solutions solidifies Mammoth's position as one of the best in the industry to offer such a comprehensive and impactful TakeBack service.

    Toitū carbonreduce Manufacturing

We look at all aspects of operation to run a sustainable business. Mammoth has achieved its Toitū Envirocare carbonreduce accreditation by measuring, reporting and reducing emissions from both manufacturing and product distribution.

We feel it is important to consider the environment in all facets of our business, so measuring and monitoring our impact is the only way to understand how we can improve. Our measured carbon emissions are monitored and continually reduced through a variety of smarter business practices.” Justin Grimshaw.

What happens to the product & packaging?
    • Once the product returns to the company’s Auckland factory, it is fed into the shredding line and then bagged ready for re-use in new product.
    • The purpose-built reclaim line ‘reopens’ the polyester, returning it to fibre form. Once the fibre is ready it is recorded as raw material stock available for use in the manufacture of new products.
    • Mammoth product is bagged and returned for recycling at a TakeBack centre.
