May 2026 marks a major milestone for Mammoth® Modern Insulation as the proudly New Zealand-owned brand celebrates 25 years of helping create warmer, healthier and more energy-efficient homes and buildings across the country.
To celebrate the occasion, Mammoth hosted a special 25th Birthday Event on Thursday 21 May in Auckland, bringing together all staff to reflect on the company’s journey and achievements over the past quarter century.
The story of Mammoth began in the 1990s when pioneers of polyester insulation in New Zealand, Paul Vujcich and Godfrey Hall, recognised the need for a safer, healthier alternative to traditional insulation products. Drawing on their construction and manufacturing experience, they developed innovative polyester insulation made primarily from recycled plastic bottles using a unique thermal bonding process.
Unlike traditional fibreglass insulation, the new material was soft to handle, contained no formaldehyde-based glues, and was easier and safer to install. It quickly gained recognition as an innovative solution for creating healthier indoor environments.
InsulPro Manufacturing Ltd was formally incorporated in 2001 following the purchase of a manufacturing plant in Milton, before expanding operations with a purpose-built Auckland manufacturing facility in 2010. The business continued to grow through investment in research, development and manufacturing innovation, producing advanced thermal and acoustic insulation products for residential and commercial applications.
A significant milestone came in 2012 when InsulPro merged with Smart Energy Solutions under the umbrella company of InZone Industries Limited. That same year, the NOVA range of insulation products began rebranding to Mammoth® Modern Insulation - a name that has since become synonymous with high-performance polyester insulation in New Zealand.
Over the years, Mammoth has continued to evolve with a strong focus on sustainability and innovation. Milestones have included many partner accreditations with BRANZ, Eco Choice, Red List Free, and launching Mammoth's FREE Takeback & ReUse Programme in 2023 to help divert insulation waste from landfill. The programme is now operating across Auckland, Hamilton, Tauranga and Wellington.
Today, Mammoth remains committed to its founding philosophy of creating healthier buildings and better environments for New Zealanders.
CEO Katy Stark says the anniversary is an opportunity to celebrate not only the company’s growth, but also the people who helped shape the business over the past 25 years.
“We’re incredibly proud of what Mammoth has achieved. From our early beginnings to becoming one of New Zealand’s leading polyester insulation manufacturers, it has always been about creating safer, healthier and more sustainable environments for people to live and work in.
Our innovation continues to drive the company forward. We’ve always believed there is a better way of doing things. That mindset has helped Mammoth continue to evolve, develop new products and support the building industry with insulation solutions designed specifically for New Zealand conditions.”
As Mammoth celebrates 25 years, the company looks ahead to continuing its commitment to innovation, sustainability and creating healthier spaces for future generations.
