Sustainability for
Better Environments

Sustainable by Design. Exceptional by Nature.

Our business is underpinned by a philosophy of creating better environments which extends to more than just the products we manufacture.

At Mammoth® Modern Insulation, everything we do is driven by a simple philosophy - creating better environments. That means more than just high-performance polyester insulation. It’s about how we operate as a business, how we manufacture our products, and how we help shape warmer, healthier, more energy-efficient buildings across New Zealand - all while protecting the largest environment of all - our planet.

Proudly NZ made, Mammoth Modern Insulation is 100% polyester thermal and acoustic insulation supplying the building, construction and residential markets. With our key focus on sustainability, we ensure that by design, everything we send to market can be recycled - from product to packaging.

Our Mammoth polyester insulation products have an Ozone Depleting Potential (ODP) of zero, meaning no ozone depleting substances are present in the product or used in direct manufacture of the product.

Sustainability is not an add-on for Mammoth. It is built into every fibre, every process, and every product we create. It is built into every stage - from raw materials to manufacturing to end of life recyclability.

We practice continuous improvement and adoption of a 'reduce, reuse, recycle' philosophy in our fibre product manufacturing processes.

So when you ask, why should I choose Mammoth Insulation, the reasons speak for themselves.

Our Reduce, Recycle, Reuse philosophy

Zero waste manufacturing - from waste to warmth

For our NZ made Mammoth Modern Insulation, we source the best polyester fibres and take recycled fibre from PET plastic bottles and more, which would otherwise end up in landfill as waste and manufacture it into polyester insulation.

An optimal blend of fibres for each product is created from a mixture of highly technical fibres for extra performance, recycled fibres for sustainability, and bi-component fibres for bonding.

Mammoth polyester insulation creates warmer, healthier homes and buildings. Our zero-waste manufacturing process and the rigorous Eco Choice labelling standards ensure our products meet high environmental performance criteria.

All Mammoth production waste, offcuts, and packaging are reused or recycled - nothing goes to landfill.

Mammoth is made from recycled plastic bottles

Mammoth's thermal and acoustic insulation is made from 100% polyester and uses up to 15,600 recycled PET plastic bottles per 100 sqm (based on 16.2g 500ml PET bottles).

Most of our Mammoth products are Eco Choice Aotearoa certified, with 65-94% of the raw material used being made from fibre manufactured out of recycled PET bottles.

Our commitment to sustainability is paramount to us and incorporated in the way we operate the business, our manufacturing processes and the way we help our customers create warmer, healthier, more energy efficient environments - all while protecting the largest environment of all, our planet.

We create insulation that delivers outstanding thermal and acoustic performance - without compromise.

Mammoth is 100% recyclable

100% recyclable, everything from offcuts, clean waste product and packaging is recyclable and can be returned, recycled and reused as part of our TakeBack & ReUse Programme from our various drop off locations. And even better, it's free!

Our insulation product is completely recyclable and the product must be uncontaminated and returned to our branch for recycling.

We take clean offcuts & returned product from the market and recycle them back into product. All plastics are baled and returned for recycling. We run it through a purpose built reclaim line where it reopens it back into a fibre form and we use this product as post-consumer recycled fibre.

This ensures valuable materials stay in circulation - and out of landfill.

Eco Choice Aotearoa

Eco Choice Aotearoa (formerly Environmental Choice New Zealand) is the official environmental labelling programme. This programme, which commenced in 1992, operates independently from the government but the label is government owned and endorsed.

Since its commencement, the government has financially supported the scheme, both directly and indirectly.

Most of our Mammoth insulation products are Eco Choice certified.

Declare Red List Free

All of our Mammoth polyester insulation products are Red List Free for both our thermal and acoustic insulation products.  This means our products are free from chemical binders, glues, pesticides and formaldehyde.

The Living Building Challenge developed a Red List of prohibited materials under the Declare Programme to provide transparency around the building products.

Declare is a ‘nutrition label’ for the international building industry and is a voluntary self-disclosure programme aiming for healthier and more ecological products in construction. Red List Free products are shown to be free from Declare’s red list of ingredients.
