About Us

Creating warmer, energy efficient environments while reducing our impact on the planet.

Mammoth® Modern Insulation is manufactured by InZone Industries Holdings Limited - a New Zealand owned and operated manufacturer of polyester thermal and acoustic insulation - supplying the local New Zealand market and export markets with a range of insulation products for the building, construction and residential markets for 25 years.

Mammoth polyester insulation products help create warmer, healthier, more energy efficient environments which helps to improve people’s health in addition to reducing carbon emissions.

Our extensive range of  thermal and acoustic insulation products are designed to maximise thermal performance across the construction system and products independently tested proved to outperform their product R-values.

With sustainability and zero waste in mind, and with manufacturing facilities in the North Island, Mammoth's thermal and acoustic insulation is made from 100% polyester and uses up to 15,600 recycled PET plastic bottles per 100 sqm* - everything from packaging to product is recyclable at the end of its life.

Our business is underpinned by a philosophy of creating better environments which extends to more than just the product we manufacture. The History of Mammoth

InZone Industries Ltd was formed following the merger in 2012 of InsulPro Manufacturing and Brightr (previously Smart Energy Solutions).

InsulPro Manufacturing Ltd was founded in the 1990s by Paul Vujcich and Godfrey Hall who were the pioneers of polyester insulation in New Zealand.

Having worked in the construction industry and knowing the chemicals used in traditional insulation and the difficulty in their installation, they believed there had to be a better solution for healthier buildings. The answer they found was in the thermal bonding of polyester fibres, primarily made from recycled plastic bottles, to create a polyester insulation product.

Made from the same sort of polyester used in pillows and sleeping bags, this new material had none of the itchiness of fibreglass. Its unique heat-welding manufacturing process required no glues, the component in traditional products that often contains formaldehyde and can break down over time. Rolling out like a big blanket over a ceiling, it not only prevented heat leakage through joists but was extremely easy to install.

Together with other founding shareholders, the two men formed the company InsulPro and bought a manufacturing plant in Milton in the South Island and, a little later, installed a modern purpose-built plant in Auckland. The range of insulation products was branded under the NOVA series. Since then constantly rising demand for polyester products for both residential and commercial applications have been met with ongoing investment in R&D and greater production capacity.

Innovative insulation products are now manufactured, including acoustic and thermal insulation, and high-density segments which are friction-fitted between floor joists without needing to drive staples near unseen electric wiring - reducing the risk of electrocution for installers.

  • In 2010 InsulPro partnered with Maui Capital to allow for future growth in the residential and commercial markets.
  • In 2012 InsulPro started to rebrand the NOVA series of insulation products to Mammoth® Modern Insulation.
  • In 2013 InsulPro merged with Smart Energy Solutions (now called Brightr) under the umbrella company of InZone Industries Limited and continues to grow and be one of the largest polyester insulation manufacturing companies in the country.
  • In 2015 InsulPro Manufacturing Ltd, the manufacturer of Mammoth Insulation, became carboNZero certified.
  • In 2019 InsulPro Manufacturing was amalgamated under InZone Industries Limited.

Mammoth recently celebrated it's 25th anniversary in May 2026. Read more here.

Our Airlay and Carded product manufacturing process

InZone Industries Holdings Ltd has the only Airlay insulation manufacturing plant in Australasia producing medium and high density thermal and acoustic insulation.

The Mammoth® wall insulation produced on the Airlay plant is different to traditional carded polyester or fibreglass insulation. The springy nature of Airlay medium density insulation means it squeezes into wall cavities to be self-supporting, uncompressed and gap-minimising. It performs exceptionally well in wall and underfloor systems. Download a copy of our brochure here.

Our New Zealand manufacturing plants produce a range of products - our softer blanket form, rigid friction fit segments and acoustic panels.

Airlay manufacturing

Our Airlay sections are manufactured with technology where the fibres are blended together, and then under air pressure, there is a transfer process that blows all of the fibre into a randomised composition rather than a layered effect (as the carded product would deliver). This provides structural properties of the product which enable it to be friction fitted within a cavity by simply squeezing it in place. This friction fit enables a smooth, seamless installation which maximises thermal performance. So confident about it's performance, we had it independently tested.

Carded manufacturing

Our blanket products are made when the fibres are blended, carded and formed into a web which is then layered to create a loft (blanket) of fibres. This is then heated and compressed to the required weight and performance of our product range(s). When we heat the product it is passed through an oven where hot air is circulated and activates a thermo bonding process. This melts the outside sheath of the bi-component fibre which then bonds the fibres together. Compression inside the oven controls the product density and thickness, which is then cooled. The product is then cut to specification, weighed, vacuum packed and labelled.

Airlay Insitu Wall Performance

The New Zealand Building Code energy efficiency requirements are based on the system performance of building components rather than R-Value of individual elements, such as insulation. The laboratory tested R-value of wall insulation is not necessarily an accurate reflection on its ‘real life’ installed performance.

Construction R-value is a combination of the R-values of the individual components, including the effects of thermal bridging of the framing.

In order to realise its true performance, wall insulation MUST:

  1. Long-lasting without sagging or settling. Wall insulation should not sag or slump over time since this would result in a significant reduction in its performance.
  2. Be self-supporting to maintain it's nominal thickness. The use of mechanical fixings, folds and creases reduce R-value proportionate to the rate of compression.
  3. Be friction fitted without gaps between dwangs and studs. “Gaps around the edge of wall insulation can reduce its effective R value by approximately 3% for every 1mm gap*.”

These three factors have proved to be a real challenge for traditional insulation materials.

Independent Insitu Testing

To prove and document the performance of Mammoth Airlay insulation, New Zealand’s leading building research laboratory was commissioned to undertake comprehensive independent insitu testing.

Conducted over the winter period June - July 2014, measurements were made using heat flux transducers and associated software developed and calibrated by New Zealand’s leading building research laboratory.

Test walls were 1.2m wide by 2.4m high with 90mm deep timber framing. The walls were installed in a research building and had three different types of cavity cladding:

  • Timber weatherboard
  • 12mm plywood sheet
  • Brick veneer

Results & Conclusion

Peace of Mind - when performing H1 calculations, specify the tested Mammoth Airlay Wall insulation with confidence, knowing that the wall construction R-Value will outperform the generic averages for equivalent systems.
